Benin School Supplies Project

A majority of the students in Benin lack the basic necessities required to do well in school (pens, pencils, erasers, notebooks etc). Similarly, across Benin, if students do not have these basic items they are not allowed to enroll in the second semester. As such, 1 in 3 children are forced to drop out of school due to lack of access to these supplies.

In order to help more children stay at school we are holding a school supplies drive to collect basic necessities for the children in Benin.

We will be assisted in this project by Leva Rouhani, a doctoral research friend of ours working in a rural village called Oueme in the South of Benin.

We are collecting kits of supplies, and each kit includes the following:

  • Calculator
  • Mathematical set
  • Coloured Pencils
  • 2 Pencils
  • 3 Pens (1 green, 1 red and1 blue)
  • Eraser

We want to get these kits to Benin before the start of the second semester which begins in the 3rd week of January 2019. We shall be putting the kits together on Sunday, December 16, 2018, before shipping them to Benin in early 2019.

If you would like to donate one or more of these kits please call Ellie on 647-778-4817 for more information.
